On Friday 18th November, Lord Shuttleworth, Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire officially opened a joint PV installation, installed to companies Lantex Textiles and Daltons Printers in Accrington, Lancs.
David Hardman, chairman of Lantex Textiles explains "I have always had an interest in renewables and had my own thermal system fitted some 30 years ago. With the launch of the Feed-in-Tariff and access to some Lancashire County Council funding, the chance to install a PV array to help offset our on-site consumption was too good to miss".
"We put the project out to tender to four reputable installers, and settled on Renewable Solutions as our preferred contractor. It was clear from the outset that they were head and shoulders above the rest on both knowledge and professionalism and we quickly decided to award them the contract".
"The installation was completed in 3 days without fuss or inconvenience to our staff. In fact, the work was carried out during one of our busiest periods and we were amazed at how the teams accommodated us. As a result of our satisfaction and recommendation the company then completed a similar installation to our neighbours' property".
Mike Lowes from Renewable Solutions adds "We were pleased to be involved with David and Lantex. They are a 75-year established business but not scared to embrace change and new technology. We have enjoyed working with them and were pleased to also install the Daltons Printers system for owners Andy and David".
Lord Shuttleworth, who unveiled an installation plaque to mark the event, added "I was honoured to be asked to attend this event. In times of rising fuel costs, it is excellent that two high profile successful companies have chosen to install and advertise such a positive energy source to the town. I applaud them for their forward thinking and environmental actions".
